Starting in 2005, we will meet on the second Saturday of every other month from 10:00 a.m. until noon .

Our guest speaker this month is Mellisa Essenburg, M.S., CCC-SLP a Speech-Language Pathologist who currently works for Laurie Silverman & Assoc. in San Diego , CA . Her primary area of practice is in providing Auditory-Verbal therapy to adults and children with a hearing loss. Ms. Essenburg also facilitates a monthly support group meeting for adults with cochlear implants.
Ms. Essenburg will present the basic principles of Auditory-Verbal Therapy as well as a discussion of A-V techniques that can be applied in the home environment for listening practice. Attendees will learn the difference between A-V therapy and other approaches commonly used with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and the pros and cons of choosing an A-V approach.
