When do we meet?

The Hearing Loss Association-East Bay meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We socialize at 9:30 a.m and the Meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. No meetings in July and August.

Claremont House is on Pleasant Valley Road, across from the Rockridge Shopping Center.

Public Transit
#12 and #59/59A buses run on Pleasant Valley Road.
#51 bus runs on Broadway, one long block away.
Rockridge BART is 10 blocks away.

Assistive Listening Devices

We use a room loop and have an exceptionally clear amplifier system. Use the T-coils in your hearing aids.

Invitation

Guests are always welcome. Refreshments and conversation are at 9:30 a.m.  Come early so we can have time to talk with each other. The meeting begins at 10:00 a.m.

The presentation by DCARA has been cancelled. Instead, we'll have a pre-summer party, and our own Barbara Bishop will lead a question and answer session with emphasis on coping skills. Brring snacks to share if you can.

Judith Cohen, a cochlear implant user, will speak on the psychological issues of hearing loss and getting an implant. Her doctor, Katrina Stidham, will discuss the medical aspects of implantation. Representatives from Cochlear may also be present.

Singing at the Edge of the World. Randy Rutherford, a fine musician who became hard of hearing, will perform his award-winning musical memoir about his life in 1970's Alaska where he was living his dream when congenital hearing loss changed his world forever.

Health Insurance for cochlear implants. Caitlin Robertson, Public Relations manager for "Let Them Hear Foundation," a non-profit organization which has been very successful in urging insurance companies to cover implants, will speak.
