Rachel Otto, Secretary and Member of the Board of Trustees

Dr. Rachel Otto was elected HLAA-CA trustee and secretary in March 2016. Rachel is an audiologist, practicing with Pacific Hearing Service in Los Altos, California. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, and her AuD degree at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Her doctoral research project focused on maximizing the perception and enjoyment of music for hearing aid users. She was awarded the grand prize in the Academy of Doctors of Audiology Student Business Plan Competition in 2014. She completed her clinical externship at the University of Chicago Hospital. Between her undergraduate and doctoral studies, Rachel spent six years working in the field of finance. She decided to transition from business to audiology after several meaningful volunteer experiences. Rachel has volunteered for Walk4Hearing and was on the Chicago HLAA Walk4Hearing Planning Committee. Rachel participated in a hearing service trips overseas in 2015 and 2016, performing diagnostic testing and fitting hearing aids in countries lacking audiology services. Rachel lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
